Loss of Balance is the feature debut of Korek Bojanowski, starring Nel Kaczmarek in the main role. The film received four awards at the 2024 Gdynia Film Festival and portrays abuse at art academies through the lens of a psychological thriller. The creators will meet the audience on October 24 as part of the Alchemia Teatralna program.
Daniela Komędera and Weronika Humaj will also visit Świdnica and Trutnov. They star in Glorious Summer, which premiered at South by Southwest in Texas – one of the world’s most important independent film festivals. In their debut feature, Helena Ganjalyan and Bartosz Szpak explore the boundary between safety and freedom, creating a surreal, thought-provoking vision of the future – or perhaps the present?
As part of the Open Detention section, a screening of Escape to Alkatraz will take place in the Świdnica Detention Center. The documentary tells the story of a group of street basketball enthusiasts from Wałbrzych who, for over 20 years, have been organizing a national tournament on a court they built themselves, becoming a social phenomenon. After the screening (24.10), there will be a meeting with the director, Artur Pilarczyk, and one of the film’s protagonists, Michał Borzemski.
