An explorer of the darker dimensions of sound. Venena plays and produces broadly defined experimental techno, drum’n’bass, noise, and ambient — merging them into a unique, hypnotic amalgam. At Spektrum, Venena will first present a trance-like, ethereal ambient–noise session, and on the festival’s final day will team up with UMBRA to reveal a more dance-oriented side.
Once again, the Tri-City collective VHS HELL, founded in 2010 by Krystian Kujda, visits Spektrum to offer its improvised reinterpretation of a cult classic. This time it’s the 1982 film Ator — one of the most bizarre titles of the “conansploitation” genre that fed on the popularity of Conan the Barbarian. Screening with live voice-over improvising the dialogue — performed by Pan Diabeł.
From the High School auditorium, we’ll move to Klub Bolko, where the night begins with J Constanza, whose April release Comedy Club uses beats inspired by Pharrell and Sigur Rós to express raw, complex emotions.
Next up, DJ Gelvin Elager will enchant our bodies with what he calls therapeutic movement, paying homage to legendary club culture venues such as Paradise Garage, The Haçienda, and Tresor.
It’s a tradition! The legendary hosting duo Filip and Basia return once again to lead our wild bingo night, where unique prizes await. After all, who hasn’t dreamed of shouting BINGO!? To close the festival, the dance floor will heat up with the DJ duo UMBRA/VENENA.
