Film is one of the most communal forms of art, making it perfect for collective emotional experiences. Cinematic experiences can also be intergenerational, which is why we organize Spektrum for kids – family-friendly screenings on select Saturday mornings. The program includes some of the most popular films and animations for children. Each session begins with a film introduction by Martyna Stec – a psychologist, educator, mediator, and trainer specializing in enhancing socio-emotional skills.
In 2024 and 2025, thanks to funding from the National Centre for Culture’s Interwencje programme, we organized three film workshops for people with disabilities and their caregivers. The initiative helped develop skills and sensitivity, allowing us to contribute to the growth of civic potential, strengthen social relationships, and enhance the therapeutic effect.
In addition, we maintain ongoing cooperation with the Occupational Therapy Workshops in Mokrzeszów, involving people with disabilities in the jury process and in awarding their own statuette in The Youth Perspective – Short Fiction competition.
Since the very first edition, we have involved inmates from the Świdnica Detention Center in Spektrum’s activities. Every year, they serve as jurors in The Youth Perspective short film competition and present a handmade award during the official gala ceremony. During the festival, they meet filmmakers and watch films together with the festival audience in the common room of the Detention Center. Through screenings and film-related meetings, the inmates take part in valuable rehabilitation and reintegration activities.
Animations with Passion is a comprehensive educational project launched in 2025 thanks to the support of the Polish Film Institute. Its aim is to introduce young people to the worlds of animation, film criticism, and ecology. As part of the first edition, students from the artistic classes of the 3rd High School in Świdnica transformed from viewers into conscious audiences and festival jurors.
Workshop series: From theory to practice
In October 2025, we carried out a programme led by renowned experts:
— Enrique Orozco – a professional 2D animator who introduced participants to the realities of working in international studios and the stages of creating Japanese productions.
— kinoMANUAL (Agnieszka Jarząb and Maciek Bączyk) – an artistic duo who guided the students through the world of experimental animation, as well as the analysis of film style and language.
— Martyna Stec – psychologist and educator; she combined animation screenings with practical storyboard creation focused on social and ecological themes.
The results of the workshops culminated during the 11th Spektrum Film Festival. Five jurors selected from the project evaluated 17 films in The Youth Perspective – Animation competition. During the official gala at the former Pionier cinema, they presented the main award to Void Spaces (dir. Marta Koch) and a Special Mention to Como si la tierra se las hubiera tragadoa (dir. Natalia León).
The project continues in 2026 and is dedicated to Spektrum Festival volunteers.
