Beata Tarnawa

Artist. In her work, she uses painting, visual arts, and set design as tools for social engagement. Since 1988, she has co-founded the Gaja Club with Jacek Bożek.

Her artistic output is closely tied to the activities of the Gaja Club, drawing inspiration from the Earth, the animal world, and nature. She has exhibited her paintings in various shows, including: “I Stand in the Middle of the Earth” at Galeria Nova in Warsaw (2001), Galeria Alchemia in Krakow (2002), the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw (2003), and Kinoplex in Bielsko-Biała (2003); “For One Night” at Galeria Le Madame in Warsaw (2004); “Art for the Earth” at Galeria Bielska BWA (2005); “Art for the Earth” at the Wiktoria Kubisz Culture House in Bielsko-Biała (2014); “I Stand in the Heart of the Tree” at Galeria Bielska BWA (2017); and the Bielsko-Biała Visual Arts Festival at BWA (2020).

She is responsible for the image of campaigns and programs and collaborates with partners. She coordinates campaigns, including “The Carp Is Still Alive” (since 2009), and has coordinated educational programs, including “Tree Day” and “Fish Have a Voice!” She is a co-author of performances and happenings that help promote the Gaja Club’s ideas, such as “The Living World” (presented during the Polish Season in France, Nova Polska, 2004), “Paths of Stories,” and artistic actions like “Mandala for the Earth” (Galeria Bielska BWA), “Mandala for the Rawa” (Katowice), and “Mandala for the Vistula” (Warsaw).

She is a recipient of an award from the WFOŚiGW in Katowice for her work on the “Adopt a River” program.

She loves working in the garden, enjoys cooking, and loves inviting friends to the table.
