Film and theater actress. She graduated from the Drama School in Warsaw in 1985, and then continued her education at the Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique in Paris. While still a student, she played with respected directors in the films: Przeznaczenie (1983, dir. J. Koprowicz), No end (1983, dir. K. Kieślowski), Memoirs of a Sinner (1985, dir. WJ Has), Ga-ga: Glory to the Heroes (1985, dir. P. Szulkin), The Ring and the Rose (1986, dir. J. Gruza), A Train to Hollywood (1987, dir. R. Piwowarski), Kingsajz (1987, dir. Juliusz Machulski).
After studying in Paris, she appeared in international productions, such as the Hungarian Season of Monsters (1986, dir. M. Jancsó), the French-British Voices in the garden (1992, dir. P. Boutron), the American-Australian Fatal past (1994, dir. Clive Fleury, Richard Ryan) and R. Altman’s films: The Player (1992) and Pret-a-porter (1994).
Her popularity in the country was strengthened by appearances in the most important domestic productions: ‘Mleczna Droga’ (1990), ‘The Spindle of Time’ (1995) and ‘The Sundial’ (1990, 1995 and 1997, dir. A. Kondratiuk), ‘Killer’ and ‘Killer 2’ (1997 and 1999, dir. Juliusz Machulski), ‘A Happy New York’ (1997, dir. Janusz Zaorski), ‘Love Stories’ (1997, dir. J. Stuhr), ‘ The Revenge’ (2002, dir. A. Wajda), ‘The Pianist’ (2002, dir. Roman Polański), ‘Summer Love’ (2006, dir. P. Uklański), ‘Yuma’ (2012, dir. Piotr Mularuk), ‘Damaged’ (2015, dir. Filip Bajon),’7 Emotions’ (2018, dir. Marek Koterski), ‘Never Gonna Snow Again’ (2021, dir. Małgorzata Szumowska).
Winner of numerous prestigious awards, including the Golden Lion in 1999 for the role of Gosia in the film ‘Ajlawju’ and in 2003 for the role of Ubica in King Ubu, the Eagle in 2004 for the best female role in the film Zhoorek, Golden Duck in 1987 for a role in A Train to Hollywood and in 1998 for the greatest love scene (Kingsajz), Crystal Boar in Świdnica during the 4th Film Directing Festival in 2011 and the Zbyszek Cybulski award in 2019 for lifetime achievement.
In the years 2006-2013, an actress of the Dramatic Theater in Warsaw, where she collaborated, among others with Krystian Lupa and Paweł Miśkiewicz. Since 2013, she has been working at the Wybrzeże Theater in Gdańsk. For the title role of J. Racine in dir. Grzegorz Wiśniewski received three the most important theater awards. Lecturer at the Gdynia Film School.
