A tender portrait of friendship between two women living in a dwindling Polish village in the Romanian Carpathians. Hanka and Bronka have both lost their husbands, while their children have left for other countries in search of better opportunities. Fiercely independent and full of good humour, they carry on as the world they have known slowly disappears.
What remains are memories of a time that will never return, and the everyday rituals and challenges they continue to face together. With warmth, understated humour and evocative images of the Carpathian landscape, the film becomes a moving meditation on memory, friendship and the passage of time. Hanka and Bronka have become each other’s closest companions, and their story gently invites us to reconsider what truly matters and to look at life from a different perspective.
