Simona Kossak, the daughter of painter Jerzy Kossak and granddaughter of Wojciech, lacking the talent that has defined her family for generations, grows up without experiencing warmth from her despotic mother. After college, she leaves everything behind – her home, tradition, and societal conventions – and takes a position as a scientist in Białowieża, beginning a life on her own terms. She settles in the heart of the forest, in a house without electricity or running water, surrounded by untamed nature. There, in this magical wilderness, she meets photographer Lech Wilczek, with whom she shares passions – a love for nature and… a need for freedom. Their extraordinary relationship defies all conventions. However, Simona’s ideas about the work of a naturalist and the position of a young woman in a male-dominated world undergo painful scrutiny. She must defend not only her ideals but also the world of plants and animals.

The screening will be followed by Q&A session with actress Sandra Drzymalska.

The director—recognizing the analogy between the unjust treatment of women in the scientific community and the forest being cut down and devastated by loggers—creates a fully ecofeminist herstory with Simona Kossak.

Daria Sienkiewicz, Filmweb

Good commercial biographical cinema in the style Bogowie, Najlepszy i Sztuka kochania.

Marta Waszkiewicz, Zwierciadło

It tells the story of an individual struggle for oneself, truth, and the environment.

Małgorzata Czop, Movieway

A delicious, commercial film about a completely non-commercial topic.
