Feature Short

Spektrum competition

The Spektrum competition presents the 10 most interesting titles of the season, introducing the title Spectrum of what was most important in the last months in artistic cinema. The program will include films shown at this year’s Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, Berlinale and at the International Film Festival in Cannes. 5 full-length films from Poland and 5 foreign productions will take part in the competition. The audience in Świdnica will decide which of them will leave with the statuette.

Closer competition

Films of the competition Closer are full-length narratives about the neighborhood and the closest area – intimate view on villages, towns and districts. Stepping into the houses of small communities and observing the dynamics that govern them. Reflection on the advantages and risks of thinking in terms of locality.

Nowadays we need to rethink our relations to surroundings, learn back how to watch the world on a mikroscale. Think about the moments when he could get lost and what to do to find a way back.

Competition includes both the fiction and documentary and the only jury is festival audience!

Eye on document

An Eye on a Document is a section dedicated to full-length documentaries, that is an overview of the most interesting non-fiction titles of the season.

This time, we will set off on an expedition to the holy mountain of Sherpas, see the backstage of the activism of the Youth Climate Strike’s leader, and witness the breaking of the Indian patriarchy by the only fully female-led newspaper in the country.

Opening film

The film will be preceded by the opening gala of the 7th Świdnica Film Festival Spektrum.

Sunday Film Morning

The part dedicated to the youngest festival viewers. Sunday Film Morning refers to the old idea of morning screenings for children in cinemas. The screening will be preceded by a lecture by the educator and animator Martyna Stec .

The Youth Perspective – Short Fiction competition

The Short Fiction section of the international competition The Youth Perspective includes films not exceeding 30 minutes by artists up to 35 years. The set of 10 films selected from the submitted shorts from around the world has been divided into two sets: Set I and Set II .

The competition will be judged by a three-person jury composed of: actress Katarzyna Figura , director Michał Ciechomski and the Artistic Director of the Gdynia Festival Tomasz Kolankiewicz .

The films will also be assessed by a local jury – participants in Occupational Therapy in Mokrzeszów.

The Youth Perspective – Short Fiction competition is also available from October 24 to November 7 on the New Horizons VOD platform: Set I and Set II .

The Youth Perspective – Documentary competition

In the documentary section of the international competition The Youth Perspective take part films that do not exceed 30 minutes by artists up to 35 years. The set of 9 films selected from the submitted short films from around the world has been divided into two sets: Set I and Set II.

The competition will be watched by a three-person jury composed of: director and screenwriter Patrycja Polkowska , director and cinematographer Piotr Stasik and screenwriter Michał Zygmunt .

The films will also be watched by a local jury – inmates in Świdnica Detention Center.

The Youth Perspective – Animation competition

This year’s novelty in the short film competition!

The animation section of the international competition The Youth Perspective includes films that do not exceed 30 minutes by artists up to 35 years of age. 8 of the animations sent from all over the world were selected for the competition.

The competition will be judged by a three-person jury composed of: director Daria Kopiec , artistic director of the Dutch Kaboom Animation Festival Aneta Ozorek and founder of the Animoon studio Grzegorz Wacławek .

Amatours Competition The Youth Perspective

The amateur section of the international competition Okiem Młodych includes films not exceeding 30 minutes by filmmakers who are under the age of 21 and who are not participants in film schools. Among the films sent by young filmmakers, 8 titles made it to the selection, including short films, documentaries and animations.

The competition will be judged by a three-person jury composed of: director Martyna Majewska , initiator and creator of the The Youth Perspective International Documentary Film Festival Bożena Kuźma and the director of the Lower Silesian Film Center Jarosław Perduta .

The films will also be watched by a local jury – representatives of the Youth City Council of Świdnica.
