Opening film

The film will be preceded by the opening gala of the 8th Świdnica Film Festival Spektrum.

Spektrum competition

The Spektrum competition presents the 10 most interesting titles of the season, introducing the title Spectrum of what was most important in the last months in artistic cinema. The program will include films shown at this year’s Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, Berlinale and at the International Film Festival in Cannes. 5 full-length films from Poland and 5 foreign productions will take part in the competition. The audience in Świdnica will decide which of them will leave with the statuette.

Closer competition

Films of the competition Closer are full-length narratives about the neighborhood and the closest area – intimate view on villages, towns and districts. Stepping into the houses of small communities and observing the dynamics that govern them. Reflection on the advantages and risks of thinking in terms of locality.

Nowadays we need to rethink our relations to surroundings, learn back how to watch the world on a mikroscale. Think about the moments when he could get lost and what to do to find a way back.

Competition includes both the fiction and documentary and the only jury is festival audience!

Eye on document

An Eye on a Document is a section dedicated to full-length documentaries, that is an overview of the most interesting non-fiction titles of the season.

This time, we will set off on an expedition to the holy mountain of Sherpas, see the backstage of the activism of the Youth Climate Strike’s leader, and witness the breaking of the Indian patriarchy by the only fully female-led newspaper in the country.

Young Classics

In the Young Classics section, we will look at the filmmakers who delighted the audience of the most important film festivals in the world with their first and second films and deserve attention at the beginning of their careers. The protagonist of the first edition of Young Classics will be Kogonada, born in South Korea and raised in the United States.

Set Free

As part of the new Set Free mini-section, we will show 3 short films and one full-length film, the common denominator of which is the willingness and / or permission to be who you want to be and live how you want to live, regardless of age, place of residence or gender.

Spektrum for kids

The part dedicated to the youngest festival viewers.

Open Detention

The festival cooperation with the Detention Center in Świdnica dates back to 2010 and the first edition of the The Youth Perspective Festival. The activities carried out with inmates in the prison ward have gradually evolved from meeting once a year, through regular projections, to the presentation of prisoners’ own prize.

The Youth Perspective – Short Fiction competition

The Short Fiction section of the international competition The Youth Perspective includes films not exceeding 30 minutes by artists up to 35 years. 12 films selected from the submitted shorts from around the world has been divided into two sets: Set I and Set II .

The competition will be judged by a three-person jury composed of filmmakers and film industry representatives, by also by local jury – participants in Occupational Therapy in Mokrzeszów.

The Youth Perspective – Documentary competition

In the documentary section of the international competition The Youth Perspective take part films that do not exceed 30 minutes by artists up to 35 years. 11 films selected from the submitted short films from around the world has been divided into two sets: Set I and Set II.

The competition will be watched by a three-person jury composed of filmmakers and film industry representatives, by also by local jury – inmates in Świdnica Detention Center.

The animation section of the international competition The Youth Perspective includes films that do not exceed 30 minutes by artists up to 35 years of age. 14 films selected from the submitted shorts from around the world has been divided into two sets: Set I and Set II .

The competition will be judged by a three-person jury composed of filmmakers and film industry representatives.

The main prize — a statuette and a cash prize

The Youth Perspective – Amateurs competition

The amateur section of the international competition Okiem Młodych includes films not exceeding 30 minutes by filmmakers who are under the age of 21 and who are not participants in film schools. Among the films sent by young filmmakers, 9 titles made it to the selection, including short films, documentaries and animations.

The competition will be judged by a three-person jury composed of filmmakers and film industry representatives, by also by local jury – representatives of the Youth City Council of Świdnica.

Set Free
