Anniversary edition in Poland and the Czech Republic!

In 2024, the Spektrum Film Festival will celebrate its round 10th anniversary. It has always been associated with Lower Silesia, precisely with Świdnica, and this year it will also travel to the Czech Republic! The jubilee edition of Spektrum will take place in October in two partner cities - Polish Świdnica and Czech Trutnov.

Spektrum is an international film festival that showcases both full-length and short films. Since its inception, the event has been a space for people who love and celebrate cinema to come together. In 2024, the first Polish-Czech edition of the festival will take place, drawing inspiration from the characteristic cross-border nature of Lower Silesia.

The distance from Świdnica to Trutnov is 65 kilometers. In October, these two cities will be connected by cinema thanks to the collaboration of the Wrocław Film Foundation, the Świdnica Cultural Center, and UFFO – The Cultural Centre. In Trutnov, screenings will take place at the Vesmír cinema, which began its operations over 100 years ago – on March 1, 1929. The venue has undergone renovations in recent years, and Spektrum will be one of the first festival events to inaugurate activities in its new form.

Spektrum will become a significant platform for presenting the work and exchanging best practices among Polish and Czech filmmakers. The festival will also create space for the development of new film narratives in both countries, and above all, it will be an opportunity to showcase the work of debutant creators from Poland and the Czech Republic. In 2024, we expect many Czech productions to enter the Youth Perspective competition in four categories: short fiction, animation, documentary, and amateur competition.

The ongoing development and strengthening of the festival’s position are reflected in the recognition of the project by various institutions. The 10th Spektrum is co-organized by three entities: the Wrocław Film Foundation, the Świdnica Cultural Center, and UFFO – The Cultural Centre. The festival is funded by the city of Świdnica, the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland within the grant competition “Polish-Czech Forum to bring societies closer together, enhance cooperation and foster good neighbourship 2024” competition. The emphasis on ecological solutions and reducing waste production during the event has been recognized by the Regional Representation of the European Commission in Wrocław, which also supports Spektrum.

The 10th edition of the festival will take place between October 11th and 13th in Trutnov, Czech Republic, and from October 22nd to 27th in Świdnica, Poland. More information about the event program will be available soon!
